Michael McColl

Ecotourism and adventure travel expert Michael McColl has visited over 50 countries on all 7 continents. His outdoor and environmental credentials are broad and varied: from working as a whitewater raft guide in the USA and Spain, to serving as a board member of the Northern California Recycling Association. McColl was a founding writer of Fodor's budget travel series, the upCLOSE guides, and author of "The Worldwide Guide to Cheap Airfares." His work has been published in Biztravel.com's "Executive Getaways", Student Traveler, Trips magazine, Earth Island Journal, "Extreme Adventures: Northern California," and in the travel anthology "In Search of Adventure." McColl is a co-founder of Ethical Traveler, an alliance of travelers dedicated to protecting human rights and the environment worldwide. He is the Executive Director of the Green Hotels Institute, a nonprofit group set to launch in 2010. His PR and marketing consultancy McColl Communications specializes in the travel industry.
