International Visitors
International Travel
San Francisco is truly an international city. People from all over the world call it their home and tons of international visitors come every year. This makes it easy for international visitors to find out what they need to know – often in their native language – as most tourist information is available in many languages. It also gives SF a lot of character. It’s just as easy (and often easier) to find an Ethiopian or El Salvadoran restaurant as it is to find an American one.
Visas
Under the Visa Waiver program visitors from the 34 countries listed below do not need a visa to enter the United States but they must fill out an authorization form at least three days before traveling to the United States. Since you already know your dates of travel you should go to the ESTA website NOW to submit your travel plans. This will prevent any hassle at the border and possible denial of entry when you arrive in the United States.
If you’re coming from abroad and aren’t from one of those countries, please log in, and then you may Request a Letter of Invitation. You can also visit the US Department of State Visa Office or your local US Consulate.
