Databases: The Next Generation
Presented by
Back by popular demand...
Drupal 7 features a newly rewritten database layer. If you had a complaint about Drupal 6's database handling, odds are it's been fixed in spades. Multi-database support, 3 supported databases in core, more query builders than you can shake a USB stick at, Master/slave replication, transactions, a clean object-oriented Fluent API, the works!
Great, so now how do I use this new-fangled gadgetry?
This session will cover the new database API, and how to leverage it in your own code. It will be a code-centric presentation but there will be some content for people setting up sites as well. Along the way we'll get a look at Drupal's most Object-Oriented subsystem, and a glimpse of things to come.
Whether or not the gratuitous geekery of previous iterations of this presentation will make a reappearance has not yet been determined.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I vote for as much gratuitous geekery as possible.
