I have been exclusively building with Drupal since 2005. As an independent contractor I felt isolated at times. So I founded the Ann Arbor Drupal Users Group (A2Drupal). This provided the water cooler time and the peer-to-peer interactions I craved. What I didn't expect was how it would elevate my Drupal programming. The mental gymnastics of building other peoples sites in my head showed me the art of mapping concepts to contributed modules. Even when I migrated to Iowa and left contracting work, I knew I needed to continue leading a Drupal user group. So I started the Iowa Drupal Users Group (DrupalCorn) to keep up on my training.
