Community, Culture, and Contributions

POSTED BY Matt Cheney on May 1, 2010

The last year has been an amazing experience for the San Francisco Drupal community and we would like to thank everyone for coming to DrupalCon SF. It was a pretty amazing thing to bring 3,000 people together for a Drupal event in San Francisco and it was magical to see Drupalcon grow while still maintaining our unique culture. In the final analysis, I think it is the Drupal community more than anything else that makes Drupal great and I think Drupalcon plays a big role in promoting and building that culture.

A big thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success and check out the closing session for a full list of everyone who helped and a "by the numbers" view of the conference. A few highlights:

  • 3056 attendees who paid an average of $205 per ticket.
  • 357 days of planning with 105 daily phone calls and 31 general meetings.
  • 495 people trained in 20 different trainings.
  • 132 presented sessions and 120 BOF gatherings.
  • $300,000 in estimated profits, even with spending $72,000 on coffee.
